The classroom support project incorporates performance objectives that focus
on serving the instructional needs of faculty and other instructional staff users of campus teaching facilities.
They are designed to ensure that classrooms are well-maintained and that technology
in campus teaching facilities is dependable, reliable and accessible.
They include the following key elements:
- Support should be based on a one stop shopping model that makes it easy for faculty to contact one unit to
communicate special needs and to receive assistance with problems related to classrooms.
- Faculty should have simple and obvious ways of determining a classroom's capabilities before they start teaching
and during their classes.
- Each classroom must have a locally designated individual who is responsible for basic monitoring, maintenance,
problem-solving, and user assistance.
- Immediate assistance should be available to faculty when they have problems.
- Technology should be easy to use and should not require extensive faculty training, nor should faculty be responsible
for set-ups access, etc.
- Equipment should not only be repaired when broken, but should receive preventative maintenance
in order to reduce breakdowns.
